Links We Love

Whether you’re looking to create or contribute to a better world, these links can help you do it.

Looking to expand your creative side?

F + W Media - The publisher of Marty's new book "Altered Shoes - A Step By Step Guide To Making Your Footwear Fabulous", due out in February 2009 but available for pre-sale on Amazon.com. F+W Media offers you creative types all kinds of ways to get ideas -- books, DVDs and blogs.

Lark Books – This Asheville-based publisher published "Beading Vintage-Style Jewelry: Easy Projects with Elegant Heirloom Appeal" which Marty co-authored with her friend and colleague Christine Calla. They offer books covering just about every art and craft conceivable.

Belle Armoire/Stampington & Co. – Barnes & Noble says Stampington’s magazines are #1 in the “General Crafts” category. It’s no wonder, given the elegance and whimsy in their publications.

Pasadena Museum of History - If you're in the area, check out this wonderful museum. Our Jasmine Runaway Backpack and Four Corners Handbag were featured in their exhibit on the history of handbags!

And we'd be remiss not to mention our fabulous publicist and our wonderful webmaster:

Lisa Elia Public Relations - Listening, being open and proposing unexpected approaches to publicity is one of her favorite activities. She conveys our image and message perfectly.

Perfect By Design - Our creative and patient webmaster Marc Wiggins can make your web site look wonderful, too.

Now for some links that help hold up half the sky…and then some:

Healing Odyssey - Healing Odyssey is a cancer survivor support program that offers wonderful three-day retreats. The medical community enthusiastically endorses the benefits of Healing Odyssey recovery programs.

House of Hope – House of Hope is a residential recovery home located in San Pedro, California that provides a safe, sober and nurturing environment for substance abusing women.

City of Hope Donor Program - Marty's co-author Christine Calla decided to become part of this hospital’s bone marrow donor registry, and saved a total stranger’s life when they discovered she was a match! If you want to make a difference and live in Southern California (or near any member of the National Marrow Donor Program), this is a great way to do it.

Global Exchange – This San Francisco-based organization is one of the groups that Marty worked with when she did human rights work down in Chiapas, Mexico in the aftermath of the Zapatista rebellion. They have a wide-range of programs helping people in crisis worldwide - AND THEY ALSO HAPPEN TO BE A CUSTOMER.

Women for Women International – Their goal is to help women in war-torn areas transform their nations and social status, by helping them go from victim to survivor to pro-active citizen. Check out their Fair Trade stores here.
